Dr. William H. Hadnott II Endowed Chair in Anesthesiology

This endowment was established in 2007 to honor the outstanding contributions Dr Hadnott has made to Texas medicine and academic anesthesiology. Dr. Hadnott retired from the UT Health San Antonio as a Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology in December 2006. During his 37-years with UT Health San Antonio, he has inspired and instructed hundreds of young physicians. Dr. Hadnott’s courage and personal vision helped break down the color barrier in Texas medicine. While teaching at the University, he also maintained a thriving private practice in anesthesiology in San Antonio, Texas. He has served as the Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology for the Baptist Healthcare System, and Chief of Anesthesiology of the Nix Hospital, both in San Antonio. He has been lauded for his contributions to the medical profession by the 75th Texas Legislature (House Resolution 417 – “…exemplary service to his fellow Texans”), the U.T. Medical Branch Alumni Association (Ashbel Smith Distinguished Alumnus Award) and the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists (Distinguished Service Award).
